I AM writing in response to the letter "Parking space is at a premium" (August 20) about a reader's struggle to park at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Our car park barrier system records the number of cars that enter and leave our car parks. This gives us an hourly picture of how many spaces are available in each on-site car park. We know that there is often a shortage of spaces at peak visiting times (between 2pm and 3pm) which we are working to resolve. However, our records show that on the day and time that the visitor couldn't park, more than 214 spaces were available across the site, including in car parks 4 and 6. We are always looking for ways to improve the experience our patients and visitors have.
