Winger Out to Make Most of Chance

Summary

WINGER David Martin says he is determined to rediscover his best form after joining Southend United from Derby County. Martin made only two starts and another 11 appearances as a substitute in almost two years with the Rams. "I never really had a chance to show what I could do with Derby and I can't wait to get back playing again," said the 26-year-old. "It's been frustrating but I'm pleased to have joined Southend and I will get my head down, work hard and try to play like I did to get the move to Derby in the first place." Martin came to Pride Park on loan from Millwall in February 2010 and his move was made permanent in the summer. His one goal for the Rams came in a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City in the final game of the 2009-10 season.

Derby had played with two wide players in Gary Teale and Lee Croft earlier in the season before they went for a more solid- looking four across midfield as they chased points to steer clear of relegation trouble.
