Summary
While researching her family tree in Derby's Local Studies Library, Diane Webster accidentally stumbled across an interesting report in the Derby Mercury, from Friday, May 6, 1921.
Mrs Webster, of Allestree, said: "I was using the microreader and had stopped to check the date, when I started to read an article and realised it was about a picture, above, that my mother, Mabel Cook, had given me years ago. I nearly fell off my chair!" The article reported on celebrations in Melbourne and read: "According to custom, the scholars of the various schools in Melbourne celebrated May Day in joyous fashion.See the full content of this document
