With the latest tournament starting next month, many schools will experience a surge in the number of girls and boys wanting to play football.

But those at Becket Primary will have to wait a bit longer - probably until the autumn - to be able to play games once again on the field at the Monk Street school.

Five years after the school's playing fields were taken out of use because of lead contamination, Derby City Council is going to make it safe.

The work will cost around Pounds 425,000 - Pounds 92,000 of which has to be found by the school itself. More than Pounds 40,000...
