SPENDING two weeks of your annual leave taking 14 teenage girls to Switzerland may not be everyone's idea of fun.

But after seven years of volunteering for Girlguiding UK, I am qualified to run Brownie and Guide units, have a licence to take Guides away in this country and decided this was the next challenge I wanted to embrace. So I was delighted to be selected to run a trip to Girlguiding's world centre in Adelboden in the Berner Oberland area of Switzerland, leading three other adults and 14 girls from across the county on the adventure of a lifetime. And, after 12 months of planning, fund-raising and getting to know you weekends, the day of our departure had finally arrived.
