AFTER years of helping former servicemen fund vital home improvements in their old age, a volunteer who suffered a stroke is now is now getting the same support as he recovers. Barry Winfield, 76, was a case worker with the Royal British Legion, visiting the homes of ex-members of the forces, their friends and family.

It was his role to find out what help they needed, then use the legion's funds to help pay for vital items like cookers, furniture, stair lifts and electric wheelchairs.
