Summary
WHEN I read Zofia Martin's story of her family's hardships brought about by the Russian Red Army ejecting them from their home in Poland in 1940, I realised her experiences were much the same as mine.
I was born in Poland, where my father was a headmaster in a small provincial town, which is now in the Ukraine. When the Second World War broke out in September 1939, Nazi Germany invaded the western part of Poland, while Soviet Russia invaded the eastern side, where we lived.
