REGARDING your story, "Planners dismiss concerns about hospital parking" (Telegraph, June 12).

Does our planning committee actually live in that mental unit in Alvaston that they didn't even give permission for? How can they honestly say that a unit of that size will not have an effect on the surrounding area, already blighted by parking problems with probably 80 per cent of the people attending coming by car? It's absolutely ludicrous. I think an outside authority should be allowed to scrutinise a lot of the decisions of our planning committee.
