Lavinia Lewis, of Blackbrook House, talks to Robin Johnson over lunch
Born in Derby, Lavinia Lewis grew up in Shottle, where her parents ran Shottle Hall guesthouse. Lavinia studied business studies and law at Bishop Lonsdale College, in Derby, which is now part of the University of Derby. After completing her course, in 1984, Lavinia went to work for Belper computer firm Vistech in telephone sales. In 2001, Lavinia and husband Mark bought Blackbrook House and moved back to Derbyshire but still worked for Oracle. The couple opened the premises at weekends for business meetings and, in 2003, decided to manage Blackbrook on a full-time basis.
