A RECORD 159 young athletes in Derbyshire will this year benefit from bursaries of up to Pounds 300 as the county bids to produce more Olympic heroes. The sporting prodigies will be helped by the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund, which offers grants to people who compete at a national level or are tipped to do so.

The fund has paid out Pounds 40,000 since its launch four years ago amid fears a lack of money could hold back Derbyshire's brightest stars.
