The recent photograph in Bygones of Swadlincote Town Hall/Market Hall reminded Stuart Haywood, of Church Gresley, of some of the old stores in the heart of the town.
He writes: "The A1 Candy Stores, in addition to sweets, also sold Lyons' ice-cream. Lyons produced a hard ice-cream in the shape of a long cyclinder, encased in paper.
