MANY people across the county are now being checked to see whether they are at risk of potentially fatal illnesses. NHS Derbyshire has been rolling out a national Government scheme for people aged 40 to 74.
It involves visiting your GP to give a blood sample, talk about your lifestyle and have a height and weight check. The results are used to assess each person's chance of having a stroke or developing heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease within ten years. The checks are available at 72 GP surgeries in Derbyshire and 12 more will offer them from January.See the full content of this document
