You may recall (despite your best efforts to forget) that last month I described my formative years in the 1960s watching Top of the Pops against the background grumbling of my grandfather that "they're all on drugs, you know".

In 1970, we finally rented a house of our own, in South Broadway Street, Burton. In the intervening period, our furniture had been held in store but our combined television/radio had not survived the experience and so we needed a replacement.
