I Was very interested to read John Arguile's article about being an apprentice draughtsman on part-time day release at Derby Tech in the 1950s (April 17).
He describes how he did one full day plus two evenings. This system usually resulted in homework for various subjects, plus lengthy write-ups of laboratory work, which could usually only be completed at home.
