The death of Tom Tomlinson last month, aged 91, brought a close to the "innings" of arguably one of the finest cricketers ever to play the sport in the Belper area. Tom, of Openwoodgate, was a well- known figure on cricket pitches from the 1930s right through to the end of the 1970s. Belper sports archivist Terry Fletcher has been finding out about Tom's life, and spoke to Sarah Powlson about his amazing sporting career.

TOM Tomlinson spent his whole life living in the same street in the village where he was born - Over Lane, Openwoodgate.
