A RETIRED nurse died from "a rare but recognised complication" from surgery" the morning after having a hip replacement.

Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner's Court heard that Susan McWilliams was one of just four patients to die from fat embolism out of the 12,000 who had a joint replaced at Derby hospitals in the past 10 years.
