I WAS pleased to read David Martin's memories of the butchery trade in Bygones (April 5), and agreed that it wasn't that long ago.

I can name all the butchers in the main photograph, as I was treasurer of the Derby and District Master Butchers' Association and assistant secretary to association secretary Albert Hodgkinson, who did sterling work for the association and nationally, as did David's dad, Joe Martin.
