IN July 1963, Tom Douce and his family moved to a house at the corner of Manor Road and Burton Road, Derby.

At that time, route 57 - from Burton Road, at the junction of Chain Lane to Kingscroft, Allestree - was trolley bus-operated and a year later, young Tom was hooked.
