Summary
Derby Choral Union have chosen two strongly contrasted works, by JS Bach and the 20th-century French composer Maurice Durufle, for their concert on November 8.
Bach wrote his Magnificat originally for the Christmas celebrations at St Thomas' Church, Leipzig, in 1723. He had taken up the job of music director the previous summer and this was the first major festival for which he was in charge of the music.See the full content of this document
