Summary
A HELPLINE for victims of forced marriages and honourbased violence is at risk of closure within two months. Derby charity Karma Nirvana launched the helpline 18 months ago and has already received about 7,000 calls.
Jasvinder Sanghera, who started the charity, said it is costing Pounds 80,000 a year to run and has set up an online petition lobbying the government to fund the service. The helpline is currently funded by donations and Ms Sanghera said money at the charity was drying up. "We could not have anticipated the sheer volume of calls that we've received," she said. "It's an 0800 number which means we have to pay for every call or callback."See the full content of this document
