CAMERON Shaw has had the late 17th birthday present to beat them all.

Not only did the Chevin Golf Club teenager find out that he is still in with a chance of getting through to this year's Open Championship, he was told one of his playing partners in the final stage of qualifying would be two-time US Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal. Shaw had to settle for a place as one of the first reserves following the regional qualifying round at Lindrick GC last week, two days after his birthday. That left him hoping for a call - and it came last week.
