DAVID Gibson's Soapbox article ("Derby should put some serious consideration into building tram system", January 28), was very interesting.

Unfortunately, the supposedly cash-strapped city council is too busy resurfacing roads, laying slabs and doing restoration work on buildings such as the public library. Changing Friar Gate and Ford Street to two-way traffic won't come cheap either.
