The decisive strike at Bloomfield Road was a fitting reward for the Scottish midfielder, who produced an impressive and tireless performance. But it would be wrong to single out individuals because this was an excellent team effort and, in many ways, a classic away display.
Derby have now beaten two of the teams relegated from the Premier League last season, Birmingham City and Blackpool, as well as Watford. Victory over the Seasiders also saw the Rams match a rare feat in the club's 127-year history. They have now won their opening three League games for the first time in 63 years.
