MANAGER Nicky Law kept the dressing room door locked a long time after the last whistle blew on Alfreton Town's latest setback.

Essex side Braintree Town, also promoted to the Blue Square Bet Premier this season, have made a decent start and won a defensive battle at the Impact Arena, where clear chances were at a premium. Ironically, it was Chib Chilaka, who had trialled briefly with the Reds in pre-season, whose 18th-minute opportunist goal separated the clubs. Alfreton were able to welcome back defender Josh Law and striker Paul Clayton following injury, while Anton Brown passed a late fitness test after last week's knock at Gateshead. In the opening stages, the Reds played brightly and positively.
