The unions' Day of Action over pensions caused the following disruptions: AMBULANCE Hundreds of non-emergency journeys, taking the elderly and disabled to appointments, were cancelled but the emergency service ran as normal. David Farrelly, acting chief executive of East Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "I am pleased to say that we have been able to cover the shortfalls that have arisen."
