1969 1969 LOCAL: Two men were injured in an explosion in the bridge yard at Butterley Engineering Co Ltd works in Ripley. The men were taken to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary suffering from head and facial injuries. The explosion was caused by a build-up of gas while the men were pre-heating a girder.
